Regular listeners will know that we have two cats in the house, Merlin and Pixie. They are two lovely kittens that we rescued last year and have the freedom of the house and garden.
Because they have only just turned one year old, they are still full of energy and want to play lots.

They can often be found in the garden, chasing leaves, tormenting bugs and sometimes making life hell for frogs.
As for why it’s hard to record podcasts with cats in the house, well…
When we are recording the podcast, though, it seems to bring them inside and encourage them to be noisy. It’s like they have a sixth sense which tells them when we are settling down to record.
This short video was recorded mid-record when we had to stop everything because Merlin had found a scrunched-up piece of paper that he found utterly fascinating.
As for Pixie, she was fairly quiet this time, but as the video alludes, she had very recently used the litter tray and left an eye-wateringly bad surprise in it for us, the smelly cat.
